J.M. Motley Morehead High School is located in Eden, North Carolina in the Northern Piedmont. Morehead is one of four high schools in Rockingham County. The Morehead Marching Panther Band has been under the direction of Carson Vermillion since August, 1998. Marching 48 strong with a Panther Corps of 12, the band is conducted on the field by Drum Major, Leslie Turner. Some of Morehead's finest students are enrolled in the band program.

Philosophy

It is the intent and purpose of the Morehead High School instrumental music department to provide all students with a well-rounded, challenging, and focused music education which can be used and appreciated for life. Music enriches the traditional curriculum with opportunities for self-expression, creativity, social, and emotional development. Students who participate in the performance ensembles and activities of the program should be of a higher caliber, demonstrating dedication, motivation, and concern for the total program as well as exemplifying high standards of discipline.

BOOSTER MEMBERSHIP

Morehead Band Boosters are looking for members. Single membership is $10.00 per year and Family membership is $25.00 per year. The boosters meet in the band room on the first Tuesday of August, October, December, January, March, and May at 7:00 PM.
